Loved the comment about Darwen making Burnley look serene. Good luck at the next gig on 27th March. Sounds a hoot.
Hi Mitford Rebellers,
As you may or may not know, I am Caz who used to write all the stuff on the Invisible Blog. I am currently working as a solo artist, under the name Carolina Vendetta. Come follow me here! And check out my official site for more links: http://carolinavendetta.get-ctrl.com.
Hello there everyone,
I know I said I was going to write this a week or so back, but I’ve been moving house and have no internet until the middle of October, which is making everything extra difficult.
Anyway, we’ve got a lot of news, so we need to fill you in.
Basically, Mitford Rebel has been forced to make a few tough decisions of late. As you know, we lost our second bassist Caroline Taylor a few months ago. What most of you didn’t know was that we also lost our drummer Bobby Rathod not long afterwards. We didn’t want to announce this development because we knew it would cause our situation to look rather desperate, and would look especially bad to any prospective new bassists.
Being ever the optimists, we were hoping that we’d quite seamlessly be able to replace bassist and drummer without really having to stop gigging etc, but in reality that has proved impossible. We have made great progress finding a new bassist, and while we have not made any announcements yet on that front, let’s just say we’re sorted nonetheless.
So…regarding the drummer situation, we’ve had to face facts and make rather a difficult decision. Myself and Lauren can not quit this band. It means too much to both of us and we’ve put too much in to it. We got to the point a few weeks back where we could not see any other way, but when push came to shove, we just couldn’t do it. Mitford Rebel has to live on, because we can’t imagine life without it.
What we’re having to do is this:
Play every possible one of our remaining gigs with various dep drummers and bassists (for this, we can not thank them enough).
When they are done, we will be able to take a break from gigging for a while to rebuild our line-up and write some new material. In the meantime, we have a brand new EP very well on the way to being finished, so while you may not be able to catch us live for a while, at least you’ll be able to get your teeth into some new studio stuff.
We’ve made this decision also because - as some of you will know - we’ve been in this similar situation before, and due to constantly having to teach new band members all the old material so we can continue gigging, we never seem to have sufficient time to work on new stuff in any real volume. This is very frustrating, as I’m sure you can imagine.
So…that’s basically it. We’re not finished by any means, we’re just being forced to take a breath. I have a feeling that in the long run, it will be a very productive and fruitful thing to do. Every cloud has a silver lining and everything happens for a reason.
Please give us a shout if there’s anything you need to ask us. Our remaining bookings are available to see on our Facebook page and our official website:
Last few things…we have everything sorted for the physical release of Kings And Fools, but unfortunately moving house is very expensive and I once again find myself without sufficient funds. Apologies that it’s been put back again but I simply have no choice.
And secondly…obviously we are looking for a drummer now, so if anyone knows anyone, or is anyone, or could spread the word for us that would be fab.
Thanks for your continuing support and we look forward to being able to show you our new EP.
Lots of love,
Caz & Lauren
25th August at The Park Hotel, Lancaster.
Our track No Man Is A Greek Island is on the playlist, but the band with the most votes here: http://www.facebook.com/questions/217156521743635/ gets the best time slot, so please have a click and help us out!
Okay, so we promised you an update on what’s been going on recently so here it is!
Basically, we held our bassist audition last week. It was by no means unsuccessful, but we still find ourselves undecided. Let’s go with “inconclusive”. It’s a big decision and not one we can rush into! So, all things considered, we’ve decided that the best option is to hold a second audition in a few weeks. This will be open to any extra people who wish to try out as well.
So - we’re throwing it out there again - if you are interested in trying out, please do drop us a line at email@example.com and we can e-mail you some tracks to have a play with over the next couple of weeks. The audition will be in the first couple of weeks of September.
Meanwhile, we have now had to cancel two gigs. We hate having to do this and let people down. It’s out of character for us and we like to think we’ve always been a reliable and professional band, so it’s frustrating to say the least and we’re very sorry.
So…we’ll be gigging with Nick Latham (and a mystery surprise other stand-in…) for the next couple of weeks. Further news on the actual date of audition #2 will be released in due course!
In other news, I’m currently looking into getting physical copies of ‘Kings & Fools’ printed. So there.
Also, we’ve nearly finished the actual recording part of our new release. Sweet.
Hope to see you all soon!
Our next gig sees us back at Gullivers in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. It’s been a while!
Catch us, The Escobars and more. £3 on the door!
Nick Latham will be standing in on bass guitar.
We are currently seeking a new bassist to join Mitford Rebel full time. This is a great opportunity! If you’re interested please message us on Facebook or send us an e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll tell you more.
